The average import price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds stood at $1,048 per ton in November 2023, with a decrease of -4% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 an increase of 14% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,307 per ton. From April 2023 to November 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Egypt ($1,699 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($729 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In November 2023, the average export price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds amounted to $1,105 per ton, shrinking by -54.1% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 74% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $2,671 per ton in August 2023; however, from September 2023 to November 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was France ($5,388 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($441 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+35.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
