In October 2023, the average import price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds amounted to $883 per ton, rising by 6.4% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated modest growth from October 2022 to October 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on October 2023 figures, import price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds decreased by -28.4% against June 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 25% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $1,232 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to October 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Spain ($3,557 per ton), while the price for Germany ($409 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+6.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds stood at $1,983 per ton in October 2023, increasing by 3.6% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated a pronounced expansion from October 2022 to October 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.3% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on October 2023 figures, export price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds increased by +21.3% against August 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 an increase of 32% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure in October 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($1,915 per ton), while the average price for exports to Sweden totaled $378 per ton.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovakia (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
