The average export price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds stood at $201 per ton in 2022, declining by -8.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 70% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $339 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kuwait ($322 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ethiopia ($170 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bahrain (+10.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average import price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds stood at $919 per ton in 2022, reducing by -4.9% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. In value terms, exports of onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds soared to $8.4M in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a precipitous contraction.
