In November 2023, the average import price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds amounted to $542 per ton, rising by 24% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a deep reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2023 when the average import price increased by 84% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,353 per ton. From August 2023 to November 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was China ($2,583 per ton), while the price for Russia ($246 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+18.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds stood at $393 per ton in November 2023, surging by 4.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price posted a noticeable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 31% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $722 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to November 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Croatia ($545 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bulgaria ($243 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bosnia and Herzegovina (+4.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the third year in a row, Serbia recorded decline in supplies from abroad of onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds, which decreased by -28.1% to 9.8K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a dramatic slump. The smallest decline of -2.6% was in 2021.
In value terms, imports of onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds contracted dramatically to $8M in 2022. In general, imports faced a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 2.1%.
