In 2022, the average import price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds amounted to $115 per ton, reducing by -4.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 43%. The import price peaked at $317 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($106 per ton), while the price for Tajikistan ($77 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
