In October 2023, the average import price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds amounted to $1,546 per ton, with an increase of 14% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a resilient expansion from October 2022 to October 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +7.1% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on October 2023 figures, import price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds increased by +33.6% against July 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 84% against the previous month. The import price peaked in October 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Kenya ($10,809 per ton), while the price for Turkey stood at $1,240 per ton.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+8.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds stood at $1,542 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -14.7% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +9.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds increased by +14.3% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 104%. The export price peaked at $1,808 per ton in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
