The average import price for nuts, edible; chestnuts (castanea spp.), fresh or dried, shelleds stood at $2,499 per ton in 2022, declining by -8% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.6%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 31%. The import price peaked at $2,850 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($6,000 per ton), while the price for Portugal ($2,487 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+26.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($16,333 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria totaled $6,918 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+14.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
