The average import price for nuts, edible; cashew nuts, shelled, fresh or drieds stood at $2,444 per ton in 2022, growing by 4.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the average import price increased by 25% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $6,381 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Lebanon ($10,914 per ton), while the price for Tanzania ($2,014 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+8.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average export price for nuts, edible; cashew nuts, shelled, fresh or drieds stood at $13,442 per ton in 2022, remaining constant against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for nuts, edible; cashew nuts, shelled, fresh or drieds increased by +79.6% against 2012 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $13,570 per ton in 2021, and then dropped slightly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kenya ($20,125 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($6,200 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (+7.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, approx. 69 tons of nuts, edible; cashew nuts, shelled, fresh or drieds were imported into Uganda; picking up by 14% against the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years.
