In October 2023, the average import price for nuts, edible; cashew nuts, shelled, fresh or drieds amounted to $6,042 per ton, waning by -2.4% against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $6,961 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to October 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Burkina Faso ($7,008 per ton) and India ($6,801 per ton), while the price for Cote d'Ivoire ($5,436 per ton) and Vietnam ($6,013 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Burkina Faso (+0.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average export price for nuts, edible; cashew nuts, shelled, fresh or drieds stood at $5,768 per ton in October 2023, with a decrease of -17.2% against the previous month. In general, the export price continues to indicate a mild downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 14% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $7,846 per ton. From May 2023 to October 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($8,686 per ton), while the average price for exports to Brazil ($2,400 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of nuts, edible; cashew nuts, shelled, fresh or drieds decreased by -8.5% to 58K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +8.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 32%.
