The average import price for nuts, edible; almonds, fresh or dried, shelleds stood at $4,992 per ton in September 2023, picking up by 1.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in July 2023 when the average import price increased by 11% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $5,436 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($8,175 per ton), while the price for the United States ($4,037 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for nuts, edible; almonds, fresh or dried, shelleds stood at $6,383 per ton in September 2023, remaining constant against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, saw a mild decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 9.8% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $7,307 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to September 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In September 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Estonia ($7,324 per ton) and Iceland ($6,737 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($5,202 per ton) and Denmark ($6,101 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+1.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Nuts, Edible; Almonds, Fresh or Dried, Shelled in Lithuania

After three years of growth, purchases abroad of nuts, edible; almonds, fresh or dried, shelleds decreased by -14.8% to 2.1K tons in 2022. In general, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +32.5% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 37% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 2.5K tons, and then dropped in the following year.

In value terms, imports of nuts, edible; almonds, fresh or dried, shelleds reduced to $12M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 15% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $13M, and then reduced in the following year.

Over the period under review, total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +16.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +57.9% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 36%.

In value terms, exports of nuts, edible; almonds, fresh or dried, shelleds reduced to $4.8M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +9.6% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 42%.
