Price for Meat of Bovine Animals; Frozen in Italy (CIF) - 2023

The average import price for meat of bovine animals; frozen stood at $7,300 per ton in July 2023, with an increase of 19% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $7,349 per ton in July 2022; afterwards, it flattened through to July 2023.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($8,828 per ton), while the price for Denmark ($5,216 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+0.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 an increase of 6.3% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $7,441 per ton. From April 2023 to July 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Serbia ($7,623 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($3,172 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Meat of bovine animals; frozen imports into Italy dropped to 47K tons in 2022, which is down by -5.5% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, imports recorded a pronounced reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 11% against the previous year.
