The average import price for lubricating preparations not for the treatment of materials stood at $6,042 per ton in September 2023, reducing by -5.2% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.9%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 an increase of 30% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $6,371 per ton in August 2023, and then contracted in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($8,080 per ton), while the price for Italy ($3,175 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+5.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $7,422 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to September 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Romania ($12,596 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United States ($2,778 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
