Lubricating Preparations Not for the Treatment of Materials Production in Portugal - 2022

In 2022, production of lubricating preparations not for the treatment of materials decreased by -10% to 270 tons, falling for the third consecutive year after three years of growth. Over the period under review, production recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 37% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production of lubricating preparations not for treatment of materials reached the peak volume at 512 tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, production of lubricating preparations not for the treatment of materials rose to $870K in 2022 estimated in export price. In general, the total production indicated a strong increase from 2017 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.9% over the last five-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production decreased by -20.2% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the production volume increased by 62% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production of lubricating preparations not for treatment of materials attained the maximum level at $1.1M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.
