Price for Grapes; Fresh or Dried in Egypt (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average grapes; fresh or dried export price amounted to $2,243 per ton, shrinking by -5.4% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 39%. The export price peaked at $2,370 per ton in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Oman ($2,243 per ton) and Slovenia ($2,243 per ton), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($2,243 per ton) and Malaysia ($2,243 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average grapes; fresh or dried import price amounted to $2,221 per ton, increasing by 2.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 42%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,304 per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were Lebanon ($2,375 per ton) and India ($2,375 per ton), while the price for Uzbekistan ($2,007 per ton) and Turkey ($2,007 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+6.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Exports of Grapes; Fresh or Dried in Egypt

For the third year in a row, Egypt recorded decline in shipments abroad of grapes; fresh or drieds, which decreased by -0.8% to 107K tons in 2022. In general, exports saw a abrupt decrease. The smallest decline of -0.1% was in 2021.

In value terms, grapes; fresh or dried exports contracted to $239M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 7.8%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $255M, and then contracted in the following year.
