Which Country Exports the Most Grapes in the World?

Global grape exports amounted to 4,310 thousand tonnes in 2015, rising by +3.4% against the previous year level. Overall, the global grape exports indicated a pronounced growth from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last eight years.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011, when the output figure increased by +20% from the previous year level. In that year, the global grape exports attained its maximum volume of 4,491 thousand tonnes. From 2012 to 2015, the total grape exports growth failed to regain its strength.

In value terms, global exports amounted to $7,288 million in 2015. Overall, the value of global exports increased tangibly from 2007 to 2015, expanding at an average annual rate of +5.3%. This trend pattern, however, indicated relatively mild fluctuations throughout the analyzed period.

Grape Imports By Country

The countries with the highest levels of the grape exports in 2015 were Chile (751 thousand tonnes), Italy (469 thousand tonnes), the United States (393 thousand tonnes), together accounting for 37% of total exports.

From 2007 to 2015, the most notable growth rates of grape exports among the main exporting countries was attained by the United States (+0.2% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Chile (1,353 million USD), the United States (910 million USD) and China (762 million USD) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2015, together accounting for 41% of total exports.

China (+48.1% per year) had the highest growth rates of grape exports among the main exporting countries over the last eight years, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
