The average import price for glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) stood at $1,837 per ton in 2022, approximately mirroring the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the average import price increased by 33% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $3,270 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($11,384 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($1,079 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a perceptible setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in July 2022 an increase of 34% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $8,072 per ton. From August 2022 to June 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was France ($57,284 per ton), while the average price for exports to Brazil ($2,538 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+21.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
