The average export price for glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) stood at $2,823 per ton in November 2023, falling by -35% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price saw a noticeable reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 when the average export price increased by 8.6% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $4,831 per ton. From July 2023 to November 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($5,753 per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($1,499 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The average import price for glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) stood at $3,667 per ton in November 2023, which is down by -10.1% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a perceptible descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2023 an increase of 135% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $6,213 per ton. From June 2023 to November 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($6,041 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($2,796 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (-2.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the amount of glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) exported from Egypt rose markedly to 41K tons, increasing by 7.7% on the previous year's figure. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 55% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, exports of glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) shrank modestly to $254M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 33% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $266M, and then fell modestly in the following year.
