In November 2023, the average import price for ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses amounted to $6,388 per ton, shrinking by -24.2% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a moderate expansion from November 2022 to November 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.8% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on November 2023 figures, import price for ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses decreased by -24.2% against October 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 an increase of 99% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $8,426 per ton in October 2023, and then shrank rapidly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Austria ($13,870 per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($1,964 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+14.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses stood at $8,453 per ton in November 2023, which is down by -17.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in September 2023 when the average export price increased by 30% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $10,260 per ton in October 2023, and then reduced sharply in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Norway ($16,178 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($1,237 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovakia (+7.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
