The average export price for furniture; wooden, other than for office, kitchen or bedroom use stood at $68 per unit in 2022, surging by 8.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average export price increased by 53% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $97 per unit. From 2019 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($160 per unit), while the average price for exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina ($39 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+8.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for furniture; wooden, other than for office, kitchen or bedroom use stood at $52.7 per unit in November 2023, falling by -7% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 15% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $61.5 per unit in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to November 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Turkey ($93.9 per unit), while the price for Ukraine ($31.1 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+11.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Furniture; Wooden, Other than for Office, Kitchen or Bedroom Use in Bulgaria
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of furniture; wooden, other than for office, kitchen or bedroom use, when their volume decreased by -17.4% to 1.6M units. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.8% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 27% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 2M units, and then declined remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, exports of furniture; wooden, other than for office, kitchen or bedroom use declined to $110M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +10.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +34.9% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 37%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $123M, and then declined in the following year.
