China dominates in the global office metal furniture trade. In 2014, China's exports amounted to 76.7 thousand tonnes or 545 million USD, 10% over the previous year. Its primary trading partner was the U.S., where it supplied 13% of its total metal furniture exports in value terms, accounting for 17% of the U.S.'s total imports.

From 2007 to 2014, China was a net exporter on the office furniture market. Over this period, exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. From 2012-2014 this difference was even more pronounced.

Canada and the U.S. were among the other main global suppliers of metal furniture in 2014. The fastest growing exporter from 2007 to 2014, however, was the global leader, China (+15.3% per year).

China's top 5 trading partners in 2014 were the U.S., Australia, Singapore, Japan and Malaysia, with a combined 34% share of China's metal furniture exports. The share of Malaysia increased (+4 percentage points), while the share of the U.S. illustrated negative dynamics (-11 percentage points).
