In October 2023, the average import price for cereals; millet, other than seeds amounted to $432 per ton, shrinking by -24.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 11% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $754 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to October 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($1,771 per ton), while the price for Ukraine ($215 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $3,881 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to October 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Canada ($6,748 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($595 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
