In May 2023, the average cereals; grain sorghum, seed export price amounted to $1,082 per ton, falling by -54.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 an increase of 222% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $3,427 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to May 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In May 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($9,946 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($406 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Portugal (+25.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average cereals; grain sorghum, seed import price amounted to $2,584 per ton, which is down by -2.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 29%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,900 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($5,758 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($620 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+19.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
