Sorghum Price in France Soars 31% to $469 per Ton
France Sorghum Export Price per Ton in July 2022
In July 2022, the sorghum price per ton stood at $469.4 (FOB, France), increasing by 31% against the previous month. Over the last six-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +8.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 an increase of 43% m-o-m. The export price peaked in July 2022.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Italy ($1.0K per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($285.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+15.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
France Sorghum Exports
In August 2022, approximately 193 kg of sorghum were exported from France; dropping by 99.9% compared with the month before. Overall, exports continue to indicate a dramatic decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 with an increase of 5.5% month-to-month. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 21K tons. From April 2022 to August 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, sorghum exports reduced remarkably to $1.7K (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a sharp decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 with an increase of 39% against the previous month.

Belgium (1.4K tons), Spain (909 tons) and Italy (701 tons) were the main destinations of sorghum exports from France, with a combined 67% share of total exports. the Netherlands, the UK and Portugal lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 32%.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the biggest increases were in the UK (with a CAGR of +49.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, the largest markets for sorghum exported from France were Italy ($703K), Belgium ($501K) and Spain ($334K), with a combined 73% share of total exports. the UK, the Netherlands and Portugal lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 25%.
