Price for Camel and Other Animal Meat in the Netherlands (CIF) - 2023

The average import price for meat of camels and other animals stood at $10,345 per ton in October 2023, with an increase of 4.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a modest increase from October 2022 to October 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on October 2023 figures, camel and other animal meat import price decreased by -12.9% against June 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 an increase of 27% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $11,877 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to October 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($15,221 per ton), while the price for the UK ($5,464 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovenia (+5.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In October 2023, the average export price for meat of camels and other animals amounted to $11,302 per ton, surging by 20% against the previous month. Over the period from October 2022 to October 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.6%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2023 an increase of 45% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $12,304 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to October 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($14,533 per ton), while the average price for exports to Norway ($6,632 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Finland (+8.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Camel and Other Animal Meat in the Netherlands

Camel and other animal meat imports into the Netherlands declined notably to 7K tons in 2022, with a decrease of -22.6% compared with 2021 figures. In general, imports saw a precipitous descent. The smallest decline of -17.9% was in 2020.

In value terms, camel and other animal meat imports shrank to $57M in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a drastic downturn. The smallest decline of -0.1% was in 2020.
