Price for Camel and Other Animal Meat in Russia (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average export price for meat of camels and other animals amounted to $5,328 per ton, declining by -5.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 29% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $8,516 per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Finland ($5,892 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kazakhstan amounted to $2,832 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kazakhstan (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average import price for meat of camels and other animals amounted to $15,313 per ton, falling by -61% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a notable expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 798% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $43,807 per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Brazil.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Hungary amounted to +6.9% per year.

Exports of Camel and Other Animal Meat in Russia

Camel and other animal meat exports from Russia rose remarkably to 828 tons in 2022, picking up by 12% on 2021. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 19% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In value terms, camel and other animal meat exports expanded rapidly to $4.4M in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a deep reduction.

In 2022, overseas purchases of meat of camels and other animals decreased by -98.8% to 16 kg, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, imports saw a dramatic decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 119%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 2.3 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, camel and other animal meat imports shrank dramatically to $245 in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a sharp shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 5.9% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $51K, and then shrank markedly in the following year.
