Price for Camel and Other Animal Meat in Kuwait (CIF) - 2022

In December 2022, the average import price for meat of camels and other animals amounted to $21,518 per ton, waning by -60% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, enjoyed strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2022 an increase of 604% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $53,734 per ton in November 2022, and then contracted notably in the following month.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2022, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($8,734 per ton), while the price for Egypt stood at $8,734 per ton.

From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Price for Camel and Other Animal Meat in Kuwait (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average export price for meat of camels and other animals amounted to $9,888 per ton, with an increase of 25% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 99%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Oman ($14,368 per ton), while the average price for exports to Iraq ($8,787 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Iraq (+46.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Camel and Other Animal Meat in Kuwait

In 2022, approx. 212 tons of meat of camels and other animals were imported into Kuwait; with an increase of 32% on the year before. In general, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +16.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +83.1% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 39%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, camel and other animal meat imports skyrocketed to $1.2M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a significant increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 656%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, camel and other animal meat exports surged to $358K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 731% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
