Price for Camel and Other Animal Meat in France (CIF) - 2023

In October 2023, the average import price for meat of camels and other animals amounted to $7,000 per ton, waning by -13.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 an increase of 16% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $8,930 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to October 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($9,894 per ton), while the price for the UK ($4,958 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+5.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Price for Camel and Other Animal Meat in France (FOB) - 2023

The average export price for meat of camels and other animals stood at $12,386 per ton in October 2023, picking up by 21% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated a noticeable increase from October 2022 to October 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.0% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on October 2023 figures, camel and other animal meat export price increased by +21.5% against September 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 an increase of 53% month-to-month. The export price peaked in October 2023.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($19,127 per ton), while the average price for exports to Cote d'Ivoire ($4,612 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Senegal (+6.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Camel and Other Animal Meat in France

Camel and other animal meat imports into France surged to 9.4K tons in 2022, rising by 33% compared with 2021. Overall, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +14.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +75.4% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, camel and other animal meat imports soared to $64M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +11.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +60.9% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
