The average import price for cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds stood at $752 per ton in 2022, increasing by 9.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a pronounced shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $1,584 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($1,953 per ton), while the price for Jordan ($469 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average export price for cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds amounted to $291 per ton, increasing by 2.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 13% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $362 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bahrain ($356 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kuwait ($272 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+0.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports of cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds into Saudi Arabia shrank sharply to 17K tons in 2022, with a decrease of -17.9% against 2021. In general, total imports indicated a tangible expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +27.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 56%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 21K tons, and then shrank sharply in the following year.

In value terms, imports of cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds contracted to $13M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 26% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $14M, and then reduced in the following year.
