The average import price for cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds stood at $2,430 per ton in January 2024, waning by -9.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2023 when the average import price increased by 13% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $2,891 per ton in October 2023; however, from November 2023 to January 2024, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was Italy ($2,656 per ton), while the price for Poland ($968 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds amounted to $1,319 per ton, reducing by -10.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average export price increased by 50% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $1,477 per ton in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Sweden.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the Netherlands amounted to +1.1% per year.

For the third year in a row, Norway recorded decline in overseas purchases of cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds, which decreased by -8% to 17K tons in 2022. Overall, imports showed a abrupt curtailment. The smallest decline of -3.5% was in 2021.

In value terms, imports of cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds reduced rapidly to $33M in 2022. In general, imports saw a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 6.7% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $39M, and then contracted markedly in the following year.

As a result, the exports attained the peak of 77 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, exports of cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds fell dramatically to $68K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a perceptible downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 26%.
