Plum and Sloe Price in Germany (CIF) - 2023

The average plum and sloe import price stood at $2,872 per ton in June 2023, growing by 8.9% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a noticeable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 40% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in June 2023.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Austria ($3,346 per ton) and Spain ($2,866 per ton), while the price for Italy ($2,276 per ton) and the Netherlands ($2,695 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Moldova (+3.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Plum and Sloe Price in Germany (FOB) - 2023

In June 2023, the average plum and sloe export price amounted to $3,186 per ton, with an increase of 13% against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a temperate expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 75% against the previous month. The export price peaked in June 2023.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Poland ($4,767 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic ($2,298 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+17.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Plum and Sloe Imports in Germany

In 2022, purchases abroad of plums and sloes decreased by -7.9% to 48K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 18%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 53K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, plum and sloe imports contracted dramatically to $66M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 45%.

Plum and Sloe Exports in Germany
