Non-Combined Refrigerator-Freezer Price in Malaysia (CIF) - 2022

The average non-combined refrigerator-freezer import price stood at $171 per unit in 2022, increasing by 40% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild contraction. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $205 per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($357 per unit), while the price for Indonesia ($115 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+9.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Non-Combined Refrigerator-Freezer Price in Malaysia (FOB) - 2021

The average non-combined refrigerator-freezer export price stood at $325 per unit in December 2021, standing approximately at the previous month. In general, the export price recorded a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2021 when the average export price increased by 19% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $1,819 per unit in December 2020; however, from January 2021 to December 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($370 per unit), while the average price for exports to the Philippines ($58.6 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Vietnam (+20.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Non-Combined Refrigerator-Freezer Imports in Malaysia

In 2022, overseas purchases of household refrigerators and freezers (not combined) decreased by -46.7% to 349K units, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, imports showed a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 51%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 664K units. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, non-combined refrigerator-freezer imports declined remarkably to $59M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a slight slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 37% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $86M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a abrupt descent. The exports peaked at 68K units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, non-combined refrigerator-freezer exports reduced to $13M in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 37% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $16M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
