Musical Instrument Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023
The average musical instrument import price stood at $26,667 per ton in August 2023, declining by -13% against the previous month. Over the period from August 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 19% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $30,651 per ton in July 2023, and then shrank in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Mexico ($70,968 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($11,062 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+3.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In August 2023, the average musical instrument export price amounted to $132K per ton, approximately mirroring the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 13% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $148K per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Japan ($258K per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($28,593 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Musical instrument imports into the United States rose remarkably to 83K tons in 2022, surging by 12% on 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern.
