Mushroom and Truffle Price in China (FOB) - 2023
The average mushroom and truffle export price stood at $1,711 per ton in June 2023, with an increase of 2.3% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2022 an increase of 15% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $2,349 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to June 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In June 2023, the countries with the highest prices were the Netherlands ($2,146 per ton) and Malaysia ($2,099 per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($1,549 per ton) and Vietnam ($1,556 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Vietnam (+1.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Mushroom and Truffle Price in China (CIF) - 2022
The average mushroom and truffle import price stood at $4,538 per ton in 2021, increasing by 26% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded tangible growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 395% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $8,914 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for South Korea.
From 2012 to 2021, the rate of growth in terms of prices for South Korea amounted to +9.9% per year.
Mushroom and Truffle Exports in China
In 2022, shipments abroad of mushrooms and truffles decreased by -0.5% to 139K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 12%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 141K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, mushroom and truffle exports declined to $253M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 15% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $296M, and then fell in the following year.
