In March 2022, the average milled rice import price amounted to $655 per ton, falling by -4.2% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in September 2021 when the average import price increased by 8.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $685 per ton in December 2021; however, from January 2022 to March 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($980 per ton), while the price for Russia ($547 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
