Meat Price in Nigeria (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average meat import price amounted to $6,537 per ton, declining by -15.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a mild setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 28% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $7,951 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($31,667 per ton), while the price for Tanzania ($402 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+15.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Meat Price in Nigeria (FOB) - 2022
The average meat export price stood at $750 per ton in 2022, picking up by 3.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price posted a moderate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 3,339% against the previous year.
