Mattress Price in the UK (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average mattress import price amounted to $105 per unit, stabilizing at the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 28% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $149 per unit. From January 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Turkey ($112 per unit) and China ($109 per unit), while the price for Taiwan (Chinese) ($95.1 per unit) and Denmark ($96.2 per unit) were amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (-0.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Mattress Price in the UK (FOB) - 2022
The average mattress export price stood at $90 per unit in 2022, with a decrease of -30.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 66%. The export price peaked at $151 per unit in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were the United Arab Emirates ($115 per unit) and Belgium ($89 per unit), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($84 per unit) and the Netherlands ($84 per unit) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Mattress Imports in the UK
Mattress imports into the UK fell to 2M units in 2022, waning by -2.6% against 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 8.3%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 2M units, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, mattress imports reached $231M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +8.1% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 22% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Mattress Exports in the UK
