Lifting Equipment Price in the UK (CIF) - 2022
The average lifting equipment import price stood at $10,761 per unit in 2022, dropping by -55.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a perceptible contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 295% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $28,873 per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($30,560 per unit), while the price for South Africa ($930 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Lifting Equipment Price in the UK (FOB) - 2023
The average lifting equipment export price stood at $21,191 per unit in August 2023, approximately reflecting the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 when the average export price increased by 6.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $21,192 per unit in June 2023; afterwards, it flattened through to August 2023.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In August 2023, the countries with the highest prices were South Africa ($21,192 per unit) and Australia ($21,192 per unit), while the average price for exports to Norway ($21,174 per unit) and Ireland ($21,189 per unit) were amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Lifting Equipment Imports in the UK
In 2022, the amount of lifting equipment imported into the UK surged to 3.8K units, growing by 94% on 2021 figures. In general, imports enjoyed a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 173%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
