Kiwi Fruit Price in South Africa (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average kiwi fruit import price amounted to $1,700 per ton, shrinking by -9.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 14% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $1,877 per ton in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($1,934 per ton), while the price for New Zealand ($1,600 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Greece (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Kiwi Fruit Price in South Africa (FOB) - 2023
The average kiwi fruit export price stood at $2,821 per ton in May 2023, dropping by -28.2% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, recorded a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 121% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $4,068 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to May 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In May 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($4,042 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kenya ($308 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+18.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
