Hardboard Price in Egypt (CIF) - 2022
The average hardboard import price stood at $798 per cubic meter in 2022, with an increase of 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 18%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $936 per cubic meter. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Poland ($799 per cubic meter) and Germany ($798 per cubic meter), while the price for China ($790 per cubic meter) and Belgium ($798 per cubic meter) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+7.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Hardboard Price in Egypt (FOB) - 2022
The average hardboard export price stood at $677 per cubic meter in 2022, picking up by 3.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average export price increased by 73%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $762 per cubic meter in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($850 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Sudan ($1 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Morocco (+3.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Hardboard Imports in Egypt
After three years of growth, overseas purchases of hardboard decreased by -61.1% to 24K cubic meters in 2022. In general, imports saw a deep contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 38% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 62K cubic meters, and then reduced sharply in the following year.
In value terms, hardboard imports shrank dramatically to $19M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a abrupt downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 51% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $43M, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.

Hardboard Exports in Egypt
In 2022, shipments abroad of hardboard decreased by 0% to 58 cubic meters, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 3.4% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 60 cubic meters. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, hardboard exports stood at $39K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a pronounced decline. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $43K in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
