Hardboard Price in Australia (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average hardboard import price amounted to $820 per cubic meter, with an increase of 30% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The import price peaked at $926 per cubic meter in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,188 per cubic meter), while the price for Malaysia ($516 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Hardboard Price in Australia (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average hardboard export price amounted to $287 per cubic meter, which is down by -46.3% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 24%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1,539 per cubic meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was India ($1,120 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to the UK ($13 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (-4.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Hardboard Imports in Australia
In 2022, approx. 56K cubic meters of hardboard were imported into Australia; reducing by -50.2% compared with the year before. In general, imports showed a dramatic decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 4.7%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at 127K cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
