Green Bean Price in Belgium (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average green bean import price amounted to $3,370 per ton, reducing by -5.3% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, enjoyed measured growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 327% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $3,559 per ton in May 2023, and then dropped in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Kenya ($3,761 per ton), while the price for France ($2,148 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kenya (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Green Bean Price in Belgium (FOB) - 2023
In June 2023, the average green bean export price amounted to $3,379 per ton, shrinking by -4.9% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 44% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $3,553 per ton in May 2023, and then reduced in the following month.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In June 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to Luxembourg ($3,657 per ton) and the UK ($3,590 per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($3,034 per ton) and the Netherlands ($3,256 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Green Bean Imports in Belgium
After three years of growth, purchases abroad of green beans decreased by -20.3% to 90K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 29%.
In value terms, green bean imports contracted dramatically to $45M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a tangible expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -37.6% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 77% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $72M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, green bean exports declined sharply to $3.4M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a drastic downturn.
