Garlic Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2022
The average garlic import price stood at $1,191 per ton in 2022, reducing by -7.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 26%. The import price peaked at $3,013 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($1,505 per ton), while the price for Iran ($500 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Syrian Arab Republic (+7.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Garlic Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average garlic export price amounted to $942 per ton, reducing by -37.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a noticeable downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 96%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $2,145 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Canada ($2,600 per ton), while the average price for exports to Georgia ($107 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+24.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Garlic Imports in Turkey
In 2022, supplies from abroad of garlic decreased by -94% to 337 tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports faced a dramatic shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 203% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 21K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, garlic imports fell rapidly to $401K in 2022. Overall, imports saw a significant contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 167% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $21M. Garlic Exports in Turkey
After three years of growth, overseas shipments of garlic decreased by -22% to 3.5K tons in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 184%.
In value terms, garlic exports dropped rapidly to $3.3M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, posted significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 135%.
