Fiberboard Price in Nigeria (CIF) - 2022
In June 2022, the average fiberboard import price amounted to $98.9 per cubic meter, with a decrease of -21.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a perceptible downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2021 an increase of 308% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $545 per cubic meter. From December 2021 to June 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2022, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($160 per cubic meter), while the price for China ($91.6 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2021 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+5.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Fiberboard Price in Nigeria (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average fiberboard export price amounted to $27 per cubic meter, picking up by 5.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a deep reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 70%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $113 per cubic meter. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Niger ($104 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Benin totaled $22 per cubic meter.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+14.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Fiberboard Imports in Nigeria
In 2022, approx. 151K cubic meters of fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials were imported into Nigeria; waning by -18.4% against 2021 figures. In general, imports faced a dramatic slump. The smallest decline of -14.5% was in 2020. Imports peaked at 864K cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, fiberboard imports shrank dramatically to $14M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a dramatic downturn. The smallest decline of -11.9% was in 2020. Imports peaked at $51M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Fiberboard Exports in Nigeria
After three years of growth, shipments abroad of fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials decreased by -33% to 294 cubic meters in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 147% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 439 cubic meters, and then shrank significantly in the following year.
In value terms, fiberboard exports dropped sharply to $8.1K in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 143% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $11K, and then fell remarkably in the following year.
