Dry Peas Price in Brazil (CIF) - 2023

In July 2023, the average dry peas import price amounted to $740 per ton, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous month. Over the period from July 2022 to July 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 28% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $768 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to July 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Canada ($750 per ton), while the price for Argentina totaled $650 per ton.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+2.5%).

Dry Peas Price in Brazil (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average dry peas export price amounted to $3,628 per ton, picking up by 90% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 259%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $10,589 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Marshall Islands ($4,337 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($953 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+10.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Dry Peas Imports in Brazil

In 2022, supplies from abroad of peas (dry) decreased by -4.9% to 31K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports, however, saw a modest increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 19%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 36K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, dry peas imports expanded notably to $18M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 17%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $19M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Dry Peas Exports in Brazil

In 2022, shipments abroad of peas (dry) decreased by -75.4% to 8.1 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, exports saw a precipitous decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 822%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 243 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, dry peas exports shrank remarkably to $29K in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 352% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $129K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
