Which Country Exports the Most Dry Peas in the World?

Global dry peas exports amounted to 5,361 thousand tonnes in 2015, growing by +12.8% against the previous year level. Overall, the global dry peas exports indicated a pronounced growth from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the last eight years.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2009, when the output figure increased by +18% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the global dry peas exports reached its maximum volume in 2015, and is likely to continue its growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, global exports amounted to $2,144 million in 2015. Overall, the value of global exports increased tangibly from 2007 to 2015, expanding at an average annual rate of +7.0%. This trend pattern, however, indicated relatively mild fluctuations throughout the analyzed period.

Dry Peas Imports By Country

The country with the largest volume of the dry peas exports in absolute volumes was Canada (2,922 thousand tonnes), accounting for 55% of global exports. It was followed by Russia (588 thousand tonnes), with a share of 11% of global exports. Moreover, dry peas exports in Canada exceeded the figures recorded by the world's second largest exporter, Russia, fivefold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by the United States with a share of 9%.

From 2007 to 2015, an average annual growth rate of dry peas exports in Canada stood at +4.3%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual growth rates: Russia (+51.8% per year) and the United States (-0.2% per year).

In value terms, the country with the largest volume of exports of dry peas in absolute volumes was Canada (1,127 million USD), making up 53% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by the United States (228 million USD), with a share of 11% of global exports. Moreover, dry peas exports in Canada exceeded the figures recorded by the world's second largest importer, the United States (228 million USD), fivefold. It was followed by Russia with a share of 8%.

From 2007 to 2015, an average annual growth rate of dry peas exports in Canada was at +6.2%. The remaining exporting countries experienced the following average annual growth rates: the United States (+4.9% per year) and Russia (+51.4% per year).
