Dry Bean Price in Singapore (CIF) - 2022

The average dry bean import price stood at $1,896 per ton in September 2022, flattening at the previous month. Over the period from September 2021 to September 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.8%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2022 when the average import price increased by 27% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $2,056 per ton in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to September 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was China ($2,700 per ton), while the price for Australia ($1,623 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2021 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Myanmar (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Dry Bean Price in Singapore (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average dry bean export price amounted to $1,427 per ton, with an increase of 7.2% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 19%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($2,366 per ton), while the average price for exports to Myanmar ($727 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+8.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Dry Bean Imports in Singapore

In 2022, supplies from abroad of beans (dry) decreased by -14.5% to 6.8K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 33% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 9K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, dry bean imports declined to $9.4M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +7.7% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 46%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $11M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Dry Bean Exports in Singapore

In 2022, shipments abroad of beans (dry) decreased by -47.2% to 696 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, exports, however, showed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 191% against the previous year.

In value terms, dry bean exports dropped rapidly to $993K in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 226%.
