In 2022, the average confectionery import price amounted to $4,513 per ton, declining by -2% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average import price increased by 6.9%. The import price peaked at $4,885 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($5,286 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($3,412 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Serbia (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average confectionery export price amounted to $5,586 per ton, reducing by -2.4% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 7.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $5,738 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($8,684 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($1,426 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kosovo (+6.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Confectionery Imports in Croatia

In 2022, the amount of confectionery imported into Croatia was estimated at 60K tons, with an increase of 2.6% on 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 7.5%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
