Cinnamon Price in Peru (CIF) - 2021
In April 2020, the average cinnamon import price amounted to $8,436 per ton, approximately equating the previous month. In general, the import price saw a noticeable reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2020 when the average import price increased by 5% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $9,545 per ton. From March 2020 to April 2020, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($11,956 per ton), while the price for China ($1,461 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2020 to April 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+1.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cinnamon Price in Peru (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average cinnamon export price amounted to $9,199 per ton, leveling off at the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 32% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $11,919 per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($13,323 per ton), while the average price for exports to Chile ($3,405 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Chile (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Cinnamon Imports in Peru
In 2022, approx. 2K tons of cinnamon (canella) were imported into Peru; jumping by 28% against 2021 figures. For the fourth consecutive year, Peru recorded growth in overseas shipments of cinnamon (canella), which increased by 0.1% to 18 tons in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a significant increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +21.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +80.2% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 60% against the previous year.
