In 2022, the average cereals; millet, seed import price amounted to $252 per ton, which is down by -31.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price faced a sharp slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $7,258 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($361 per ton), while the price for Uzbekistan stood at $234 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (-15.3%).

For the fourth year in a row, Iraq recorded growth in purchases abroad of cereals; millet, seeds, which increased by 4.5% to 1.3K tons in 2022. Overall, imports posted a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 377%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, cereals; millet, seed imports dropped significantly to $318K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 208% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $574K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
