In August 2023, the average cauliflower and broccoli import price amounted to $2,901 per ton, shrinking by -8.1% against the previous month. Over the period from August 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.1%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in July 2023 when the average import price increased by 26% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $3,158 per ton, and then contracted in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Spain ($6,351 per ton), while the price for Germany ($1,460 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+8.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cauliflower and Broccoli Price in Norway (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average cauliflower and broccoli export price amounted to $2,015 per ton, picking up by 6.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 101%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $2,251 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($2,468 per ton), while the average price for exports to Denmark ($898 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
